Travel insurance sold by banks, travel agents, supermarkets, pharmacies and credit
card companies and airlines is not usually valid for one-way trips and migration.
If you purchase one of these plans the chances are you won't be able to make a claim,
as they are only valid for round trips. As you have not completed the round-trip
you have broken the terms and conditions of the insurance. So, you'll have to return
to your country of origin to make a claim, which is not a practical proposition
as you are taking up residence in a new country. You should also keep in mind that
if you are critically ill "normal" travel insurance will repatriate you back to
your country of departure for treatment. This again will not be a practical option,
as your family will be remaining in Canada and you may have to pay for treatment
in your departure country, as well as another airline ticket to return to Canada.
With CanadaSure all treatment will be received in Canada and you won't be repatriated.
